Teaching

In line with the social justice orientation of my research, my teaching is oriented toward real-world application of knowledge to encourage critical reflection on social issues and/or thinking about how social change can be effected. I consider myself to be a scholar-educator, and my experience as a researcher in an institution oriented toward “social science that makes a difference” has helped me not only to think about knowledge translation but also contextualising learning.

My teaching philosophy is grounded in fostering critical thinking and promoting real-world application of knowledge, particularly in the areas of health and social justice. I am committed to creating inclusive, engaging, and participatory learning environments that prepare students to apply their learning to complex social challenges.

I coordinate two core master level courses in Health Psychology at Massey University: 'Understanding health and illness' and 'Health Promotion.' Below are some examples of my recorded learning content for these courses.
